Story
From crystal healers to 4x4 Jeeps, from psychic readings to breath-taking natural scenery, Sedona has something for everyone - as long as you are a lover of either spiritual healing or outdoor adventures. We fit one of these bills.
Sedona, Arizona is known hippy-worldwide for its energy vortexes. What is an energy vortex? It is a small area where it is believed that energy enters the Earth (female) or energy exits the Earth (male). Practitioners of holistic healing can bask in the divine energy that is drawn to these regions. Or something like that. Nothing more needs to be said about this.
But, smirks and raised eyebrows aside, there is something unmistakably moving about the ambiance in those arid, crimson hills.
In every direction, you will see towering obelisks of stone and sheer rock faces, presenting layers from a prehistoric time. Take one of the many hikes to enjoy these natural wonders up close and personal. Bring water to combat the dry climate, and bring snacks to combat your munchies.
We brought instant hummus with a host of dippables. We hadn't tried instant hummus, and we what better place to try it than the summit of a red mountain under the heat of the Sedonian sun.
The Recipe
Ingredients
- Hummus Mix with Tahini (by Sadaf)
- Water
- Any small (~4 ounce) container with lid
- Spoon for mixing
- Dippables!
Steps
- Store dry hummus in the small container for transport.
- Carry the dry hummus powder in the small container. Make sure that lid is secured!
- Hike up a mountain for optimal enjoyment.
- Slowly pour water into hummus mix. Start small! You can always add more water. Our ratio: 1 tablespoon water to 2 tablespoons dry hummus mix.
- Mix until a smooth consistency is obtained.
- Enjoy with dippables!
Hints
- Don't fill up your container with hummus powder! Leave some room in the container so allow space for for adding water and mixing in the container. Or bring an extra container and dirty two dishes (like us...)
- Use a shallower container! It makes stirring easier.
- Find your own ratio! We like our hummus thick, but you be you. Less water = thicker hummus.
- Get Creative with your dippables! We brought veggie sticks and airline pretzels (shout out to American Airlines). But don't stop there; here are some other ideas: Celery, Carrots, Pita Chips, Tortillas, Biscuits, Fingers!
